Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE), the national trade promotion agency of Malaysia, successfully organized the first Malaysia Promotion Programme (MPP) in the Philippines. The entire program will run from March 11 to 18, 2018

His Excellency Dato’ Raszlan Abdul Rashid, Ambassador of Malaysia to the Philippines, delivered the welcoming remarks for the Opening Ceremony of Citarasa Malaysia, which translates to “Taste of Malaysia”, last Sunday, March 11. The opening speech and launching of the Citarasa Malaysia was delivered by the Assistant Secretary of the Department of Trade and Industry, the Honorable Abdulgani Macatoman and CEO of Matrade, Ir Dr Mohd Shahreen Zainooreen Madros, respectively. The program was immediately followed by the ribbon cutting ceremony, tour exhibits and presentation of certificates to exhibitors.  

The 3-day programme which was held at Glorietta 2, Activity Center from 10AM – 8PM, promoted Malaysia’s food & beverage, culture and tourism through various cultural performances, food demonstrations and samplings, as well as informational talks.


Also part of MPP2018, MATRADE organized the Malaysia Business Forum at Makati Shangri-La last Tuesday, March 12. The forum started through the speeches delivered by His Excellency Dato’ Raszlan Abdul Rashid, Ambassador of Malaysia to the Philippines and Honourable Secretary Ramon Lopez of the Department of Trade and Industry, Philippines. In line with the theme, Leveraging Partnership: ASEAN and Beyond, Honourable Dato’ Sri Mustapa Mohamed, Minister of International Trade and Industry Malaysia gave his Keynote Address.


The business forum, which was attended by distinguished guests from Malaysia and the Philippines, aimed to encourage businesses in both countries to further engage in cross border trade and investment. The afternoon session was filled with educational and informative talks by leaders of several Malaysian companies. The event successfully ended with discussions on opportunities for collaborations in information and communications technology and construction industries.

The Malaysia Promotion Programme 2018 will conclude during their participation in the WORLDBEX to be held at the World Trade Center Metro Manila on March 12.
