FWD Life Insurance Corporation (“FWD Life”) is the first life insurance company licensed by the Insurance Commission of the Philippines under the new Insurance Code. FWD launched its commercial operations in September 2014. I was able to visit their head office at BGC when they launched the company.

Okey, back to the topic.

“Blaze a Trail in the Arctic” campaign in conjunction with the FWD North Pole Marathon 2018, the world’s coolest marathon which will be held on April 9 this year. FWD is the marathon’s title sponsor.  “With Blaze a Trail in the Arctic as the Philippine campaign promoting the marathon, FWD aim to encourage Filipinos to live life to the fullest, because FWD will always have their back.

FWD will sponsor ten (10) runners from six (6) countries across Asia who will showcase their passion and determination to take on extreme challenges and embrace this experience of a lifetime, traversing the 42-kilometer path with an average temperature of -30 degrees centigrade. The North Pole Marathon is recognized by the Guinness World Records as the “Northernmost Marathon on Earth”.

And I want to share to you the most interesting information about this event

A cancer survivor will be representing the FWD Philippines in the marathon to conquer the top of the world

Louie Sangalang

FWD Philippines will be represented by Louie Sangalang, a multi-sport athlete who engages in mixed-martial arts, boxing, and triathlons.  A proud cancer survivor, Louie was diagnosed with cancer of the appendix when he was 21.  But instead of giving up, Louie—who has been in remission since 2000—turned to sports and was able to bounce back successfully.

How about that, if we think that cancer is the end of the world for many of us, Louie Sangalang proves that if you put your mind into it, you can change your life for the better.

I was able to interview Louie Sangalang, hope you find time to watch this video of mine.

Louie Sangalang is not alone in this battle, because FWD Philippines will help him to prepare for the marathon. FWD Philippines formed a North Pole Marathon squad who will support his mental, physical, and emotional preparations. Included in the squad are triathlon icon Ani De LeonBrown, who will collaborate with his personal trainer and coach Ige Lopez for Louie’s physical preparedness; mountain climber Romi Garduce, who will share his insights on surviving extreme weather conditions; Maricel Laxa-Pangilinan and son Benjamin, who will provide emotional support and motivation; and sports enthusiast and funny man Sam YG, who will help keep the rigorous— sometimes stressful—training, lighthearted and fun(ny).

I was able to talk to SAM YG; watch my video interview please. Better hear it from the man himself.

It was truly inspiring to meet guys like Louie and to know that there are company who will support him in this endeavor.

Let’s wait and watch and hope that he will prove to the world that we Filipinos are fighters.

Marathon and campaign updates will regularly be made available via the official website: npmarathon.fwd.com.ph

So, that’s it guys

Thank you for dropping by to my blog and till next time

  1. Indeed, a good Job Sir Louie! Your truly an inspiration t o all people lalo na yung na diagnose with cancer. Na kailangang think positive pa rin. Na hindi balakid ang pagkakaroon ng sakit, bagkos gawin itong inspirasyon na kayang kaya mo itong lagpasan at magagawa mo pa rin ang mga gusto mong gawin sa buhay.. Kudos to you Sir Louie!!!
