Lee Women’s Hospital IVF babies Reunion in the Philippines

IVF babies together with their families had a grand reunion last Oct. 1, 2017 at the SMX Convention Center. The event coincides with the Taiwan Excellence 2017 celebration.

Families who are part of the IVF treatment got a chance to meet Dr. Lee Maw Sheng of Lee Women’s Hospital

President Maw-Sheng Lee was present during the reunion of IVF babies and answers some inquiries about IVF procedures. During the reunion, parents were able to meet other parents and couples and shared their stories now that their family it complete because of IVF.

There were more than 700 Philippines couples searched for help from Lee Women’s Hospital; 400 couples of them already had successful IVF, delivering more than 500 IVF babies healthily, including singleton, twins, triplet, and quadruplet according to statistics since 1986 until now.

What is IVF?

IVF is the process of fertilization by extracting eggs, retrieving a sperm sample, and then manually combining an egg and sperm in a laboratory dish. The embryo(s) is then transferred to the uterus. Other forms of ART include gamete intrafallopian transfer (GIFT) and zygote intrafallopian transfer

The artificial reproductive technology in Taiwan is mature and outstanding around the globe. The rate of a baby boy is about 50.4%, baby girl is about 49.6%; the oldest IVF baby now is already at the age of 18.
